Udzungwa is a hiker's park rather than a game-drive park — there are no roads inside, only forest trails. Part of the ancient Eastern Arc Mountains, it is a globally important biodiversity hotspot with endemic species found nowhere else, including the Udzungwa red colobus and Sanje crested mangabey. The highlight for most visitors is the day hike to the 170 m Sanje Waterfalls, with a refreshing swim in the plunge pool. Longer treks reach high plateaus and remote camps.
